Help for people with a disability

We recognise that a number of our tenants need to have their homes adapted to help them stay independent at home, and we want to help you remain in your own home for as long as it is good for your health and well-being.

If you think that an adaptation to your home would help you cope more easily, an occupational therapist in the Social Services department in your area can carry out an assessment of your home and make recommendations for adaptation work to help you. Providing we approve the proposals and have the funds available, we will then carry out the necessary works, subject to certain budgeting limits.

If you do not live in our elderly persons accommodation, but feel an adaptation to your property would help you, you can apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant from the Environmental Health Department at your local council.
