I am already a Tor Homes tenant – can I request to move home?
Yes. There are many reasons why you many want to move from your present home. It may have become too small or large for you and your family, or there may be reasons why you need to live nearer to your relatives or employment.
Tenancy Transfers
If you want to move to another Tor Homes property, you can apply for a transfer. Request for transfers are considered alongside applicants on our waiting list and applications are normally only considered on the basis of housing need. Applications to transfer will be considered provided your rent account is clear, you are not in breach of your tenancy conditions, your property has not been damaged and is decorated to a good standard, and you are not on a Starter Tenancy.
You can complete a transfer application form and post or hand deliver it to our offices. Our Home Choice team will be able to help you complete the form and answer any general queries you may have about moving.

Mutual Exchanges
Can I swap my home with another tenant?
You can swap homes with another Tor Homes tenant or with a tenant from another part of the country or another social housing landlord. You need to register with Homeswapper which is a national scheme to help you find another tenant to swap with. It is free to register for this scheme and you can pick up a brochure from Tor House or click on www.homeswapper.co.uk to look at their website. Homeswapper will put the details of your home and what you are looking for into their national computer. They will send you a list of possible exchanges and add your details to their lists. A copy of the Homeswapper lists, updated monthly, is also held in the reception area at Tor House
I need to move to another part of the country for personal reasons, can you help me?
You may apply directly to the Local Authority in the area you need to move to, to register on their housing waiting lists, or you could register with Homeswapper to find someone to exchange with
My home has become too large for me to manage – is there anything I can do?
If you would like to transfer to more suitably sized accommodation a member of the Home Choice team can visit you in your home to discuss your options and provide you with information on which properties may be suitable for you.
