Held in Ivybridge, in January, the conference aimed to ask the tenants’ views on Tor Homes' key priorities for the next year, as well as its future direction.
Zilpah Leahy, Housing & Customer Services Manager said: “This was an opportunity for tenants of Tor Homes to have their say on the services they would like to receive.”
Tenants attended workshops and heard about a range of subjects relevant to them their homes and their estates. The delegates used TPAS “Qwizdom” interactive voting handsets to tell us about their views and priorities for Tor Homes. People found the sessions fun and informative and said they were looking forward to this as an annual event for them to influence the business plan. Jenny Topham from TPAS commented that “The interactive voting session at Tor Homes’ conference was very productive. The tenants really seemed to welcome the opportunity to provide instant feedback on the key issues affecting them. It was a lively debate with some interesting results – true resident involvement in practice!”
Tenants were also able to take part in a draw with the prize of a family day out donated by Woodlands Family Theme Park and a £50 gift voucher.
Howard Toplis, Chief Executive of Tor Homes said, “These are challenging economic times and we wanted to make sure that we make the best use of the money available for Tor Homes tenants, by developing the services that they care about the most.”
“We have lots of opportunities for tenants to get involved and this conference was another way for them to have their say. We want to make sure that Tor Homes is a housing association where tenants are not only at the heart of shaping, influencing and monitoring the services they receive, but also informing the future strategic priorities of the company”
