Children from the Grey family in Aveton Gifford, near Kingsbridge, have scooped all the prizes in a design competition run by Tor Homes.
Tor Homes asked youngsters in the South Hams to come up with a design for a “Welcome to your new home” card which is given to all new tenants when they move in, together with information on their tenancy.
Staff from Tor Homes were given the entries to judge and didn’t have any clue to the names and addresses of entrants. By an amazing coincidence, they chose Sean Grey’s (aged 10) design for the winning card and brother, Keiran, aged 12 and sister, Kayleigh, aged 5, won the Over 12 and Under 5 categories.
Vicki Dunstone is the Tenant Participation Manager for Tor Homes and was delighted at the response to the competition. “Sean’s card was chosen because it was so bright and cheerful,” she said.
The children’s mother, Louisa Grey, was thrilled at the success of her children. “I am very proud of them,” she said.
The competition was advertised in a newsletter launched by Tor Homes, designed to get young people in the area to have a voice and say what they think about their homes.
