Get involved!

How to be involved in improving our services.

We involve residents to make a difference. We want your views on our current service and how you think we can improve our services to you. Your time is valuable. However you are involved, we will try to make sure your feedback makes a real difference and improves services for everyone.

To help you to get involved, we aim to keep you well informed about issues that affect you, through regular newsletters such as Open Door.

We get residents’ views through consultation and surveys, and every year we carry out an independent telephone survey to find out what you think.

To make sure you get the most out of being involved we offer enjoyable learning workshops to give you the knowledge and confidence to influence decision making.

We also ask for more detailed feedback on particular issues. We aim to get one-in-ten of our residents actively engaged in giving us feedback on our services.

How to get actively engaged:

How to get actively involved chart

  • You can give us your views quickly by text, email, our website, by phone or by returning a postal questionnaire.
  • If you want to be more involved you can come to meetings to discuss specific issues. We call these meetings focus groups or forums, and they meet to discuss particular areas of our service, such as repairs or complaints.
  • If you have more time, you could be involved on our scrutiny group called ServiceWatch, which reviews and shapes services. Alternatively you could apply to sit on our Board of management.

If you take the time to give us your views, these are our commitments to you:

  1. We aim to give all our residents the chance to have their views taken into account. We offer you choices of how, where and when to give us your views so that feedback represents all our residents
  2. We offer a range of engagement opportunities so that you can spend as much or as little time as you want giving us your views
  3. Your time will not be wasted; we will not hold resident involvement meetings if there is nothing important to consider and make a decision on.
  4. We will listen to all views: decisions at residents’ meetings (forums and focus groups) and by ServiceWatch will take account of wider tenants views that we have collected from surveys and feedback from other involved residents
  5. We will pay expenses to involved residents to cover the costs of travel to meetings etc.
  6. We will let you know how your involvement has improved our services.

We offer advice, grants and training to residents who are interested in improving their local neighbourhood. We do this through organising numerous activities. From one off activities like litter-picks or street parties to working with residents to help them set up their own formally constituted residents group with the aim of organising regular activities and making a difference locally.
