Barbara visits Devon Air Ambulance to see result of fundraising efforts

Barbara Lawrence, the Scheme Co-ordinator at Tor Homes’ sheltered housing scheme at Home Meadow, Totnes, was recently invited to attend an event celebrating the success of the 2-year partnership of BBC Radio Devon and the Devon Air Ambulance Appeal.

The Appeal target has been exceeded and currently stands at £685,318.77 (30 December 2011). The surplus money over the £600,000 will go towards maintaining the new helicopter, plus some specialist equipment needed.

Barbara went along to the Eaglescott Airbase at Great Torrington on 20th January. BBC Radio Devon was broadcasting from the Airbase and interviewed fundraisers, ex patients and volunteers.

Barbara Lawrence said: “It was fantastic to see the Air Ambulance and to be able to come back to Home Meadow and tell the residents that all their hard work in raising money is much appreciated.”

Barbara and the residents at Home Meadow organize events during the year such as their Christmas Bazaar, they open them up to the community and invite Devon Ambulance to have a table in order to promote and raise funds for DAAT.
